Teens Under Age 18
To obtain your driver’s license, you must meet the following criteria:
Court Licensing Ceremony
During the 180-day period, you will receive a notice from the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court that will tell you when to appear for a licensing ceremony. During this ceremony, the teen will receive the driver’s license.
To obtain your driver’s license, you must meet the following criteria:
- Be at least 16 years and 3 months of age.
- Hold a learner's permit for at least 9 months.
- Complete and pass a state-certified drivers education classroom course.
- Complete a 45-hour driving log with at least 15 of the 45 hours driven at night. Parent will certify on temporary license.
- Attend the Partners for Safe Teen Driving presentation and receive a certificate of completion.
- Receive your DEC-1 card.
- Complete and pass the Behind-the-Wheel portion of Driver Education. On the last day of the class, after taking and passing the road skills test, holding your permit for 9 months, and attending the PSTD night, your Behind-the-Wheel instructor will issue to your parent/guardian your temporary driver’s license (TDL- 180).*
